I am reaching out to you today to gather some information about Work Release/Huber inmates. We currently have a sentenced inmate who is here on DWI charges. He has been in and out of our facility multiple times over the past few years on probation violations from his DWI charge. He jumps through the hoops to get through treatment, but as soon as he is discharged, he is right back to the bottle. We released him from custody a few weeks ago after a 2 week stay, and 2 days later he was in detox. He was denied treatment on this last Probation Violation and sentenced to 365 in county. He has been allowed Work Release per Jail Policy from the Judge. We are denying his work release privilege due to his recent past, primarily not being able to stay sober. My question to you is, what verbiage is in your Huber contract that would prevent an inmate who is granted work release, that would keep them in the facility? Do you have any guidelines such as 2 active warrants or FTA for court in 12 months would deny you going to work or anything similar? We don't want to back ourselves into a corner as some inmates receive a warrant from another county while in custody for FTA, because they are in custody...but would like to have something to be able to prevent them from going out as well. Sorry long winded...but any help would be greatly appreciated!
